Coaches/Contact Information

Ryan Carpenter

Head Coach

Coach Carpenter was born and raised in Iowa and moved to Rochester with his wife after graduating from college (Lancaster, PA) in 2009.  Coach Carpenter has three children: Jordyn (age 9), Chance (age 7), and Tyetan (age 5).  He is also a physical education teacher in the district and his home school is Washington Elementary.  Coach Carpenter has been coaching high school girls basketball in Rochester since 2009.  Before moving over to Mayo as the head coach he was an assistant at Century from 2009-2014 and at Lourdes from 2014-2018.    

Tim Strain

Assistant and JV Coach

Coach Strain was born and raised in Rochester and has been teaching and coaching in the district for 25 years.  He is currently the PE teacher at Sunset Terrace elementary school, and is also the Assistant Varsity Softball coach here at Mayo.  Coach Strain is married to Rachel, a Kindergarten teacher in Rochester, and has a 7 year old daughter, Landree.  

Andy Poterucha

Assistant and C Coach

Coach Poterucha has been involved with coaching both track and field as well as boys and girls basketball over the past 14 years.  Before coming to Mayo, Poterucha coached at the high school level in River Falls, Wisconsin as well as Lourdes High School here in Rochester.  When he is not coaching or teaching, he loves spending time outdoors with his family and competing in BBQ competitions across Minnesota and Wisconsin. He is married to Cassandra and has four (soon to be five) children.  

Abbey Lacey

Assistant and C Coach

Coach Lacey grew up in Mantorville, MN, graduating from Kasson-Mantorville High School. She went on to pursue a degree in Elementary Education from Winona State University.  After graduation she accepted a job in Stewartville as a pre-school age teacher, where she has been working for the last two years. 

Her coaching career is just beginning and she cannot wait to continue learning and growing from the kids and other coaches. She has coached softball at Mayo High School for the last two years and plans to continue this spring. She is passionate about basketball and although she is new to the program she is very excited for this upcoming season and cannot wait to work with the girls!
