FALL CONCUSSION TESTING

Our 2nd date for fall concussion testing will be held on Thursday August 11th at 8am in the Mayo HS cafeteria. If you took the test at the end of May you do not need to do this one. 7th grade football players do not need to test. Please fill out the survey below before coming as this save a lot of time.

2022 FALL SPORTS REGISTRATION

FALL 2022 REGISTRATION UPDATE (As of 8/4/22 1:45 p.m.)

HERE WE GO FOLKS!  Registration has OPENED.

PARENTS OF 7th and 8th Graders and PARENTS OF students that attend Alternative Schools - PLEASE READ THIS....

      Please choose the correct link when registering.  DO NOT CHOOSE MAYO HIGH SCHOOL - Choose the one that is labeled... 7th and 8th Graders AND Alternative schools. You will not be able to locate your student if you choose the wrong link.

 

Please go to www.mayospartans.org and click on the fall registration tab on the far left.  The link can be found at the bottom of the information listed on the page.  

You will use the same login information that you used last year.  I DO NOT have access to that information so you will need to request a new password if you do not remember it.  

The registration link will close on August 8th at midnight and will remain closed until after the first practice as to allow me time to put athletes on the proper team, check eligibility, credits etc. so if you miss the deadline, please be patient and wait until August 16th to register.

Fall Sports Online Registration will be August 1-8

Please make sure you have a current/valid physical on file in the Athletic/Activities office PRIOR to August 1.  The registration software will NOT let you register online unless your physical is valid.

Physicals are good for 3 years from the date of the physical.

If you have a physical and need to update it with our office, please email (IN PDF FORMAT ONLY) to Robin at roerickson@rochesterschools.org  I will email you back stating it has been entered.  Do NOT send a picture of it.  You are always welcome to drop it off at Mayo High School and take it to the main office.


7th GRADE FOOTBALL REGISTRATION INFORMATION

Community Education is excited to offer football for any interested student in 7th grade for the 2022/2023 school year. All 7th grade students in Rochester are welcome to participate, including students attending Dakota Middle School. Please register with the high school your student will attend. If you are unsure about what high school your student will attend, please contact the Building Registration and Records at the Edison Building (507-328-4200).

Practice will begin on Monday, August 15th.
All students must be pre-registered with Community Education and have a physical on file at their resident area high school (Mayo, John Marshall or Century) in order to participate in practice.
The Middle School 7th Grade football program will be run in coordination with the high school coaching staff at Century, John Marshall and Mayo. Financial assistance is available for students that qualify for free or reduced-price school meals. Please contact the Community Education office at 507-328-4000 for more information.

Sports Physical-
All students MUST have a physical on file with their respective High School athletic office before participation is allowed. Please contact your healthcare provider for a Sports Physical appointment. Please provide a copy of a physical (within the last three years) to the Activities Office Manager contacts below. Link - MSHSL Sports Physical Form

Mayo Clinic Sports Medicine - Saturday, July 30 from 8:00-11:30 am (prescheduled physical)
Mayo Clinic Pediatric – Monday, July 25 and Tuesday, August 2 (prescheduled physical)

Equipment-
Each player MUST provide their own helmet, shoulder pads, cleats, and mouth guard. 7th Grade football will provide team girdles, pants, and jerseys. Equipment scholarships are available through RYFA. ALL TEAM PROVIDED EQUIPMENT AND SCHOLARSHIP EQUIPMENT MUST BE RETURNED AT THE CONCLUSION OF THE SEASON.

Practice/Games Dates and Times-
Practice will begin on Monday, August 15th. Practice dates, locations, and times vary and are subject to change. Please watch for future communication regarding practice from Rochester CE and your coaches. You can also visit the websites for up to date practice and game information.

Transportation on Game Days –
Busing is provided to all away games to and from the event (both out of town and across town). All players MUST ride the team bus both to and from away games. Coaches will coordinate leave and return times on a weekly basis with students and parent/guardians. Buses will depart and return to the team’s practice (school). Parent/Guardians are expected to pick-up their student promptly after the bus arrives back at the school.

Transportation on Practice Days –
At the middle school practice site (Monday through Thursday), a limited late bus route is available to take the students home. There are NO guarentees on a late bus route. If the student does not take a the late bus, then the student is expected to be picked-up promptly or is expected to walk home from practice. Students who attend schools outside their attendance area (on an exception to attendance, a district-wide option school, or in the highly gifted program) may participate at the school they attend daily or the school of their attendance area. Parent/Guardians will be responsible for daily transportation to and from practice and away game bus departure for these students. Parents/Guardians are responsible for all other transportation when not provided.

CONCUSSION TESTING

Concussion testing with Dan, our team athletic trainer, will be conducting concussion testing prior to practices starting at the beginning of each season

IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING CODE OF STUDENT CONDUCT AT ATHLETIC EVENTS

Dismissal Time

  • Players are dismissed 15 minutes prior to the bus departure time.
  • All players need to have their equipment at school ready to leave for the event. 
  • They will not be excused to run home and get their gear.
  • Middle School Students must be dismissed with a parent note at the Middle School Attendance Office.
  • Students serving a penalty for a violation should not be dismissed from school to attend away events.

Directions for finding physical date on Skyward

Sign on to skyward family access and look under the "Report Card & Portfolio" tab on left hand side of screen. This will be listed with all of the testing results and report cards.

You will need to have a copy of your physical in the Activities Office BEFORE you can register online.  The new system will not let you register without this.
