Do we have tryouts?

No, while we do not have an official tryout we will evaluate talent for Junior Varsity and Varsity playing time during practices throughout the season. The roster is fluid and at any time a player can be moved up or down between JV and Varsity.

When do we practice and where?

Practices will be held at the Mayo High school turf stadium from 6:30-8:30 pm Mondays through Friday. We may occasionally meet for film or stick work on Saturday mornings which will be announced through Email.

What do we need for practice?

Normal lacrosse equipment includes a helmet that the school has for players although we can offer helmets for purchase individually, a strung lacrosse stick, gloves, elbow pads, chest pads, cleats, a mouth guard, and an athletic cup is required now. Water will be provided at games and practices. Starting in 2022 all chest protectors need to be NOSCAE certified, and athletic cups are required per MSHSL rules. These nationwide changed are mandated by US Lacrosse, the governing body of rules.

How is communication sent out to players and parents?

We utilize an email list that is continually updated.

I have never played lacrosse or heard of it, what is Lacrosse?

Lacrosse is the fastest game on 2 feet and the fastest growing sport in America. It is a blend of Soccer, Hockey, and Basketball. This makes it an excellent sport for anybody interested. This Youtube video below does a good job explaining the game and showing some film from games.
