Rochester Mayo High School Athletics

*The online store to order uniforms is currently open! The store will be open through Monday, March 17th. All players must order their uniforms through this online store. 

All players are required to order the white short sleeved t-shirt, though are welcome to also order the other gear as desired. All varsity and top JV are required to order the white short sleeved t-shirt and the green shorts. The other items are optional for all players. This will be the last order of the season, as we are trying to ensure that players have their uniforms near the start of the season, so please get your orders in ASAP. The players uniforms will be shipped to the school and dispersed by the captains.** 

This year we also opened a fan shop for parents, friends, and families to purchase Mayo Tennis gear if desired. The fan gear is set to be delivered directly to the individual's home. This is completely optional, but it is nice to have customized gear when supporting the team. 

The coaching staff is the same as last year: Jeff Demaray, Nick Uphoff, David Rider

The Captains are:Noah Wisniewski, David Teng, Max Rivera, and Caleb Kennel 

We will be officially starting on March 24th. Here are the practice times weather permitting:

*Monday March 24 ONLY-All new players and B-Squad players from last year. If you practiced with Coach Rider last year, you were BSquad-3:45-5:30pm

All players that practiced with the first group(Coach Demaray and Uphoff)including Varsity, JV, and a few extras. 5:15-7:00pm

Tuesday March 25- Friday March 28 -All players that practiced with the first group last year. 3:45-5:45pm, New players and B-Squad from last year 5:30-7:00pm

***We will in all likelihood be moving up players after the first practice. If you feel like you are one of those players, be prepared to practice twice the first day. 

We will be going inside if the weather doesn't cooperate. Times will probably be in the evening where we can get more courts. Let's hope for nice weather.

*There will be NO practice over Spring break. Please take your racket with you when you go on vacation. Thanks.

The first week will be a time to play challenge matches. This is the first step to where people play. The most important element is how you do against the top teams. At Mayo, we play the best players regardless of age. Players can move up and down throughout season based on ability. Everyone will have an opportunity to show the coaches what they can do. 

I am really looking forward to a fun year and my hope is that all players will not only improve as tennis players, but as people as well.

2024 MAYO DOUBLES CAMP

Camp Philosophy: This camp is a great opportunity for any CURRENT or FUTURE(Going into 5th-12th Grade) Mayo Tennis Player(Boys or Girls) to improve their Doubles skills.

Camp Information: The camp will touch on all phases of the game of tennis, but a special emphasis will be given to the development of Doubles strategy and positioning. This camp is for most levels, including top varsity players to  intermediate players. This is not open to beginners or advanced beginners due to the fact that rallies need to take place in order to focus on doubles positioning.  Just want to emphasize that there will be drills that will help the very top varsity players as well as the B-Squad.   To reserve your spot, you must retain your sign-up sheet with your payment. All the current Mayo Boys and Girls players are above the advanced beginner level and are able to participate. 

Dates and Times: The tennis camp will run for 6 weeks and will start June 10th. The camp will meet Monday through Thursday. Fridays are make-up days in case of rain.(*see below). 3:30-5:30pm at the Mayo High School Courts.

***Please bring your own water this year. I will NOT be bringing water for everybody to drink.

If it rains during the week, an extra day will be added on Friday. If it rains more than once during the week, I will stay until 6:30pm on Friday.

There is a limit of 28 players per week due to court space.

Tuesday -Home match against Mankato East. Arrival time-4:45pm. East is having some tests, so they won't arrive until 5:00-5:30. . Top 16 play at Mayo, Lower JV and BSquad-Kutzky at 4:45pm. 

Wed- Practice 1-3:45-5:30

          Practice 2-5:30-7:00

Thursday- Away ati Lakeville North EVERYONE goes. Bus load time-2:45pm,  WC-2:35,JA-2:15pm.  Start time-5:00pm.

Saturday:Big Nine-All day for Varsity(will try to get some JV matches as well). TBD
