Hello everyone!! Hope all of you are well! There is a lot of information in this email, so please carve out some time to read it.
**For the rest of this email, only the bolded parts are for divers and swimmers. The rest is for swimmers only.
Divers, you will have your own practice schedule. Stay tuned.
See attached calendar. It has the practice schedule, meets and other activities. Here is a quick run down:
Practices:
-
Practice starts at 3:50 pm Mondays - Fridays. That means everyone is in the water swimming at 3:50 pm. Being on time shows respect for your team and the practice. We take this very seriously.
-
On Mondays - Thursdays practice ends between 5:15-6:00 depending on your lane. This will be determined within the first week.
-
On Friday, practice ends at 5:15/30pm
-
On Saturdays, yoga starts at 8:45am sharp, then swim practice starts at 9:45 and ends at noon.
-
Practices are mandatory. Swimmers should let me know if they are missing as soon as they know, and will of course be excused for appointments, schoolwork or family events. If a swimmer misses too many practices, it may affect how many events they swim at the next meet.
-
All swimmers need to bring to practice is a one piece suit and goggles, and any equipment they may have. We will provide everything else, including equipment for swimmers that do not have any.
Injuries:
I take all injuries very seriously. If a swimmer is injured, I will insist that they get care and rest. That said, we try to teach swimmers the difference between being injured and being tired/sore. Injuries require rest; exhaustion and soreness requires one to push a little. I will keep you updated with any injuries as they arise.
Meets:
All swimmers will swim in all dual meets, the meets during the week. All swimmers will also swim in the Pentathlon. Invites - meets held on the weekend with the exception of the Pentathalon - will have a smaller roster that will be posted at least a week before that meet.
All of our dual meets will be held at Century High School pool. We love to have people in the stands, so please make every effort to come.
I normally do not post the line up for a meet prior to the meet. Your swimmer can tell you what they will be swimming once they see it. Swimmer can swim up to 4 events, but will not always. Please ask if you have more questions.
For away meets, we will order Jimmy Johns for the bus ride there. More details on that later.
We are looking for parents to donate snacks and drinks for the ride home. If you would like to share this with another family because there are so many of us, please do. Suggested snacks:
Cheese sticks
Oranges
Apples
Bananas
Grapes
Nut mixes
Crackers

Please add your name where you can help.
Everyone is to wear Mayo gear only for all meets. New swimmers can borrow apparel from their sister swimmer until they get their own. New divers, talk to Charity or me.
Speaking of…
Apparel/Suit Online Store:
link :https://elsmoreswim.com/collections/rochester-mayo-hs-girls
We are going to have two windows where the apparel store will be open. The first one will be July 22 - August 5. Please try to order in that first window. The second window will be open August 19-26 and is for swimmers and divers who are new and did not register early. When you order apparel, please know that I would like everyone to order two items; a t-shirt and a swim suit. If you need any help with this, please let me know.
Other things on the calendar that are not meets and practices:
HHR - Healthy Human Race - we run a water station on the course of this race on August 24. We get there at 6:15 am and are done around 9:00-9:30 am. More details on that later.
You don't have to volunteer at the Healthy Human Race but if you do not, I would like you to come to Jeremiah Program Food4Kids on September 24. More on that below.
Car wash - this is our one fundraiser for the year. Everyone that is in town is expected to participate. It will be from 11:00 am - 2:00 pm on August 24 after the Healthy Human Race. There will be two shifts and sign ups will be at the pool. Divers, I will contact you about your shifts.
Pasta feeds - we will have three of these over the season held after swim practice, and we then stick around until our divers can get there. Please come and enjoy yourself. Also, if you have any food allergies, please let me know ASAP.
Pictures - Picture day is September 23. There will be no swim practice that day.
Jeremiah Program - we make and serve dinner to the families at the Jeremiah Place, then visit and play with kids. Last year, we had way, way too many people there, and that is my fault. This year, I would only like 15ish people there. If you do not do the Healthy Human race, you should do this. We will have a sign up soon. If you do not do this, you will have practice.
Spirit week - will be from September 30-October 5. Every day will be something fun. Highlights include the Green and Gold intersquad meet, the parade on Friday, and the diving workshop Saturday morning.
As always, please email with any questions and if you know anyone who is joining the team, please let me know and forward this email to them.
