Rochester Mayo High School Athletics

Next week is also pretty light, but the weeks after that are action packed, so I'll cover some major dates coming up as well. 

Monday - normal practice

Tuesday - normal practice then pasta feed at the Hausers

 - the address is 1208 Greystone Ln SW.They have a pool so if you want to swim, bring or wear your suit. Also, please bring a dessert if you can.

Wednesday - normal practice

Thursday - meet at Century at 6:00. Girls are to be there at 4:30 to set up the meet. It should be exciting!!

 - we dress up at school for home meets and wear Mayo gear to meets

Friday - practice until 5:15 pm

Saturday - yoga at 8:45, swimming until 11:30 am

Other notable dates coming up:

Monday, September 23 - picture day for swimmers and divers. Please be ready to go at 4 pm. Wear your team suit; everyone should have them by then according to Elsmore. To order pictures, go to our website for directions: https://www.mayospartans.org/page/show/6458330-girls-swim-dive-2024-

There will be no swim practice that day.

Tuesday, September 24 - Food 4 Kids for Jeremiah Program. I need 10-15 girls to help with this, including one or two adults. Last year we did tacos and stuff and that worked out well. If you are interested, please email me ASAP. You will miss practice that day. 

Saturday, September 29 - Maroon and Gold meet. I can take 3 individual swimmers in each event and 3 relays. I will put out the line up after the Century meet. It takes place at the University of Minnesota at 2:30 pm.

September 30- October 5 - Spirit week.

Monday - fun

Tuesday - fun

Wednesday will be our Green and Gold intramural meet

Thursday - away meet 

Friday we will walk in the parade - if anyone has a boat, a truck to pull it and is willing to drive it in the parade, please let me know.

Saturday will be game day - times TBA.

Hello everyone! This email has a lot of information, so please carve out some time to read it. 

The Healthy Human Race was a huge success. The volunteer in the golf cart says that every year we are amazing and the medics on site wanted to request to be with us every year. Thank you for the great vibes!! And congratulations to Elise, Zia, Dylan and Emelia for running the 5K and ringing the Personal Best bell!

Thank you to everyone who supported us at the Car Wash. The girls were efficient and friendly - I was very proud. It was also great to see two of our divers:) We made $1040, so it was a great success!

Thank you to Andrew Dean, who not only took great pictures and uploaded them to the Band app, he brought the most amazing brisket I have ever eaten, vegetables, chips and homemade cookies. And his own table to set it on. Andrews is the real MVP. Thank you! We have been so lucky with generous and kind photographers over the years and look forward to seeing Deven soon as well. :)

Here's the rundown of the week:

Monday - FIRST DAY FOR FRESHMEN!! Normal practice. This week we start the next phase of the season: fast, quality intervals.

Tuesday - FIRST DAY FOR EVERYONE!! Normal practice, but will focus on silent and dynamic stretching. After practice, we have a pasta feed at the Lee house. The address is 2314 Ponderosa Dr SW, Rochester, MN 55902. I'll spend a little time in practice talking about being good guests:)

Wednesday - Regular practice 

Thursday - meet at Century HIgh School. This is our first meet and I am so excited. Below are details about lineups and live streams. 

Friday  - practice until 5:15pm

Saturday - yoga at 8:45am sharp. Bring a yoga mat if you have it and wear comfortable clothes that you can move around in. Swim practice until 11:30 am. Then, Movie night at the Yao's house at 7:30 until the movie is over. The address is 1305 Ashley Lane SW Rochester, MN 55902

Some details about the meet:

• When we have home meets, swimmers need to be there at 4:30pm. We set up the pool from 4:30-5:00, then warm up at 5:00. Everyone helps to set up. 
• Everyone needs to find their own way to the meet. If you need a ride, let me or the captains know.
• Swimmers can swim up to 4 events but often will not find out until the meet. For this first meet, I will get the line up out, subject to change, a day or two before. 
• I can have 3 swimmers swim JV and 3 swim Varsity. I will often have extra exhibition heats of the JV 50 and 100 free. 
• Mayo gear is expected. So is cool-down and breaking down the pool. 
• Swimmers are not to go into the stands during the meet.

The great thing about having the meet at Century is that we get to see the divers!! This year we have three: Charity ( our diving captain), Sayuri and Sophia. I cannot wait to see them dive!!
